The chillum is one of the oldest pipe designs: a simple tube with a bowl at one end and a mouthpiece at the other. There is no carb hole and no water, so smoke travels in a straight line from the bowl to your lips. Glass chillums are easy to see through and clean, and a single fill usually gives one or two hits, which helps your herb last longer.
Pack a small pinch of ground herb into the bowl end, hold the chillum level, light the herb while you inhale gently from the other end, then tap out the ash. A screen can stop small pieces reaching the mouthpiece.
They are very close. Both are straight pipes for small amounts of herb, but a chillum usually has a slightly larger bowl, while a one hitter or taster is narrower and built for a single hit.
