Percolator Bongs

Honeycomb bongs are one of the most popular types of bongs on the market. This is because the honeycomb perc allows for maximum filtration with little or no drag. The honeycomb perc water pipes contain a type of disc-shaped perc that looks like a honeycomb. It has a lot more diffusion than a standard perc because it contains dozens of small holes that further diffuse and divide the smoke that passes through them. It's quite simple, the more holes the better the diffusion, honeycomb bongs are great because they have zero drag and great flavor.

A percolator bong has one or more glass filters (percs) inside the chamber that split smoke into many small bubbles. More bubbles means more contact with water, so a perc bong gives smoother, cooler hits than a bong with a plain downstem. Toker Supply stocks honeycomb, tree, showerhead, matrix and multi-perc bongs from Rock Glass, Pulsar and SeshGear, with free shipping on orders over $125.

Percolator Types

  • Honeycomb: a flat disc with dozens of small holes; strong diffusion with little drag, and easy to stack as double or triple honeycomb.
  • Tree: several slitted glass arms; heavy filtration but more parts to clean and more fragile.
  • Showerhead: a tube with slits at the bottom; a good all-rounder with low drag.
  • Matrix: a cylinder with many slits around it; very smooth pull and high diffusion.

Choosing a Bong With a Percolator

One bong percolator is enough for most people. Multi-perc bongs add more filtration but also more drag and more glass to clean. If you want a simple, smooth bong with a percolator, start with a single honeycomb or showerhead perc; for the smoothest pull, look at tree, matrix or stacked percs. Swiss perc designs are in our Swiss perc bongs collection.

Percolator Bong FAQs

Is a percolator bong worth it?

If you want smoother, cooler hits, yes. Percs add filtration a simple downstem can't. The trade-off is more cleaning and a slightly higher price.

How much water goes in a percolator bong?

Fill until the perc's holes or slits are just covered. Too much water adds drag and can splash; too little leaves the perc dry and does nothing.

Which percolator is easiest to clean?

Showerhead and honeycomb percs are the easiest. Tree and matrix percs have more small openings and need a longer soak in cleaner.
