Quartz Banger Types: Which Banger Should You Buy?
A quartz banger is a bucket-shaped nail made of quartz glass that fits on a dab rig. You heat it with a torch, let it cool for a moment, then drop in your concentrate. Bangers come in different shapes, joint sizes and angles, and each one changes how the banger heats up and holds heat.
This guide explains the main quartz banger types and how to pick the right one for your rig.
Why Quartz?
Quartz handles high heat without cracking, heats up fast, and does not add any taste. That is why quartz has replaced most titanium and ceramic nails. Shop all quartz bangers.
Quartz Banger Types
Flat top banger
The classic bucket with a flat rim. Simple, affordable and works with most carb caps. A good first banger.
Beveled edge banger
The rim is cut at an angle so a carb cap sits tighter and seals better. Good for low-temperature dabs.
Thick bottom (opaque bottom) banger
A thicker or frosted base holds heat longer, so you have more time before the banger cools down.
Terp slurper
A two-part banger with a dish on top and a pillar or marble inside. Air spins the concentrate as it melts. Needs terp pearls or marbles and a matching cap.
Blender banger
Has side air holes that create a spinning vortex inside the bucket. Usually sold with a spinner cap and pearls.
Core reactor banger
A solid quartz rod in the bottom of the bucket holds extra heat for longer.
Hourglass and control tower bangers
Brand designs (for example from GRAV and MJ Arsenal) with a narrow middle or a raised center for even heat.
Full Weld vs Regular Weld
A regular weld banger has the bucket joined to the neck at one point. A full weld banger is sealed all the way around, so it looks seamless and has no gaps where residue collects. Full weld bangers cost more.
Joint Size, Gender and Angle
- Size: 10mm, 14mm or 18mm. It must match your rig's joint. Most rigs use 14mm; mini rigs often use 10mm.
- Gender: a male banger fits a female joint on your rig, and a female banger fits a male joint.
- Angle: 90 degree bangers fit rigs with an upright joint. 45 degree bangers fit rigs with an angled joint.

What Goes With a Banger
- Carb caps to control airflow.
- Terp pearls to spread heat and move the concentrate around.
- A dab torch to heat the banger.
- A dab tool to load your concentrate.
Cleaning a Quartz Banger
Swab the banger with a cotton swab while it is still warm after each dab. For a deeper clean, let it cool fully and soak it in isopropyl alcohol. Supplies: cleaning products.
